About me
Juana Rubio is a Colombian-born sound recordist and sound designer based in Montreal.
In 2016, her sound composition “Ça qui est là” received the Special Jury Prize at the Sennheiser Canada Competition. Her creative exploration of sound has continued through projects such as the 2021 documentary series “We Are Not Pablo Escobar,” which focuses on the Latin American community in Quebec.

In recent years, Juana has worked as a production sound recordist and boom operator on numerous film and television productions. In 2022, she was selected to take part in the Women in Post program of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. Two years later, her proposal for an audio documentary series received a grant from the UK-based organization Content is Queen, which allowed her to produce the pilot episode — a project currently in development.

She was also chosen for the Warner Bros. Discovery Access Canada x L’inis training and mentorship program in the “Sound Assistant”.
Juana continues to experiment with ways to create emotional and physical spaces through sound — an approach she is further developing in her upcoming project “Unspoken Silence.”
